Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to your use of bobolearns.com and its subdomains, including lingo.bobolearns.com and chess.bobolearns.com (the "Services"), operated by Babar Ali, an individual, as a free personal project ("we", "us"). By using the Services you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

1. Using the Services

The Services are free learning tools provided for personal, non-commercial use. You agree to use them lawfully and in line with this section. You will not:

  • break, overload or disrupt the Services, or scrape them at scale;
  • try to gain unauthorized access to the Services, other accounts or other users' data;
  • upload malware or use the Services to harass others or break the law;
  • use the Services or their content to build a competing product, or to train AI models, without permission.

2. Your account

You may need an account for some features. Give accurate information, keep your password secure, and tell us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and if the minimum age for consenting to online services where you live is higher, you need your parent or guardian's permission.

3. Learning content and AI features

Lessons, translations, explanations and other content are provided for general educational purposes. Some content, including AI tutor and coach responses, is generated by AI and may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check anything important before relying on it. The Services are not a substitute for a certified teacher, translator or professional advice. Messages you send to AI features are processed by third-party AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Intellectual property and your content

The Services, including their design, branding, lessons and code, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by applicable laws. You may use them for your own learning, but you may not copy, resell or redistribute them without permission. You keep ownership of anything you submit, such as messages and answers. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process and display it, and to send it to our AI providers, solely to operate, secure and improve the Services for you.

If you believe something on the Services infringes your copyright, email hello@babarali.com with a description of the work, where it appears, and your contact details, and we will review it and act as appropriate.

5. Third-party services

The Services rely on third parties, such as Supabase, Hostinger, Google, Apple and AI providers. Your use of those features may also be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

6. Availability, changes and no promise of free forever

We work to keep the Services running, but they are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, including features, lessons and stats. We intend to keep the Services free, but we don't promise that they will remain free or available forever. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you before they apply to you.

7. Termination

You can stop using the Services or ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or if needed to protect the Services or other users.

8. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including about accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement or uninterrupted availability. This includes the accuracy of AI-generated output and of the Chess camera's move detection.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Services. Because the Services are free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US$50 or the amount you paid us (if any), whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Washington, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

11. General

These terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a term, that is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we do, we will update the effective date above, and for material changes we will make a reasonable effort to let you know. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
